JAMMU, Aug 19: With an aim to make Jammu Province 100% leprosy free, an awareness campaign has been launched by Dr Sushma Matto, Zonal Leprosy Officer Jammu Province along with Dr Monika Kotwal BMO, R S Pura and Chairperson NGO Support Dr Navneet Kour.
The initiative was headed by Rotarian Dr Navneet Kour founder Chairperson NGO Support with her team. Awareness Campaign cum Workshop was launched from Kusth Ashram Society where the ZLO Dr Sushma Matto, Dr Monika Suri BMO R S Pura , Dr Navneet Kour founder Chairperson NGO SUPPORT, Gurneet Singh representative NGO SUPPORT, Yogeshvari and Subhash from the Zonal Leprosy Office addressed the grievances of the residents of Kusht Ashram Society. Medicines and First Aid kits were also distributed to the Leprosy patients.
Later, the awareness campaign cum workshop was conducted at District Hospital R S Pura by the ZLO Dr Sushma Matto. The ZLO has urged team SUPPORT NGO to further take these campaigns to all the districts in all blocks in the village level for wider community outreach through Asha workers, volunteers, panchayat institutional members.
Dr Sushma Matto, Zonal Leprosy Officer states that,”42 new cases of leprosy were identified in the first quarter since her joining, which were diagnosed and are provided with free treatment.”
