KATHUA, July 25: The residents of Panchayat Plahi in Basholi are passing sleepless nights due to the terror of wild leopard who is moving in the area past few days.
The number of animals, sheep, goats and  dogs have become easy prey of leopard in the area. The leopard’s movement in the area has created panic among the local residents and they are totally scared of moving outside. The people have locked themselves in the houses during night hours. However the domestic animals in the area have become the easy target of the wild beast.
The villager Anubhav Kumar said that last night the leopard again made a strike in the area and killed two sheep which were tied in a house.  Such incidents are very common. Not even a day passed when such incidents do not take place, he added.
Following the regular losses due to Leopard’s attack, the residents of village Plahi in tehsil Basholi held a protest demonstration against the Wild Life Department for its failure in capturing the Leopard who posses huge loss to domestic animals and villagers.  They demanded to capture the leopard and exgratia relief to affected people. The protestors alleged that despite the repeated information made to concerning department no one takes action in this serious matter. The villagers are terrorized and worried for their as well as safety of their children.
