Leopard attack triggers panic in Panchari village

UDHAMPUR, Jan 7: Panic gripped Tehsil Panchari of District Udhampur after a leopard sneaked into residential area and killed a number of sheep and some chickens.
The incident took place last night at village Pushari, Purani Butti in Panchari area where the leopard sneaked into cattle shed of Ishar Dass, son of Bittu and killed nine sheep and five chickens. A number of sheep and chicken were left injured by the leopard.
The villagers reported the incident to the Police which visited the spot while the Wildlife Depart-ment officials were also briefed about the matter.
The incident has triggered a panic wave among the locals, who expressed concern about safety of their cattle and live stock. They appealed the Wildlife Conservation Department officials and district administration to capture the leopard or take other appropriate measures for their safety.
