LEH, July 26: The Silver Jubilee of the Kargil Vijay Diwas (25th Kargil Vijay Diwas) was commemorated with great enthusiasm and patriotism in Leh.
The Executive Councillor for Minorities, Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC), Leh, Ghulam Mehdi graced the event as the Chief Guest, Administrative Secretary of Tourism Department, UT Ladakh, Vikram Singh Malik, District Magistrate, Leh Santosh Sukhadeva attended the occasion at the Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Extension Centre, DIHAR, Leh.
Ghulam Mehdi highlighted the importance of remembering and honoring the sacrifices of our brave soldiers. We must continue to draw inspiration from their courage and valor, and work towards a stronger and more united India, he added.
Executive Councillor, Administrative Secretary, and District Magistrate, Leh felicitated the veer naris, war widows, and war veterans, honoring their sacrifices and bravery during the Kargil War.
Earlier in the day, the District Magistrate, Leh, Santosh Sukhadeva, hoisted the National Flag at the Singay War Memorial at the Singay Namgyal Chowk, paying tribute to the martyrs. He was accompanied by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Leh, Shruti Arora interacted with war veterans, veer naris, and war widows, acknowledging their contributions and sacrifices. The commemoration was marked by a sense of patriotism and respect, as the people of Leh came together to honor the heroes of the Kargil War.
The cultural program at Main Bazar Leh showcased the rich cultural heritage of Ladakh through performances by students of Government High School, Shey, Jamyang Public School, Leh, and a fascinating dance performance by the Arts of Motion Group. The event also featured a public quiz competition, engaging the audience and promoting awareness about the significance of Kargil Vijay Diwas.
The 25th Kargil Vijay Diwas celebration in Leh was a rich tribute to the spirit of the Indian Armed Forces and the sacrifices made by the brave soldiers who fought to protect the nation’s sovereignty.
The event was organized by the Tourism Department, Ladakh in collaboration with the Ladakh Autonomous Hill Development Council, Leh, and the Ex-servicemen League.
