Srinagar, Mar 18: On the instructions of District Administration Srinagar intensive market checking was conducted by field executives of Legal Metrology department to prevent the unfair trade practices of unscrupulous traders.
According to an official statement, the markets of downtown city, Batamaloo, Khonmoh, Bemina etc. were inspected and 11 erring traders were booked for violating Legal Metrology laws for which a penal sum of Rs.18,800 were collected.
The statement said the department also received about one dozen complaints on official phone number regarding LPG subsidy/overcharging on refill cylinders/non-home deliveries of refill cylinders etc.
“Three LPG distributors (Authorized Home delivery Persons) were penalized for indulging in overcharging on refill cylinders and penal sum of Rs.15000 was slapped on them with an undertaking that they will not repeat the offence. The present rate of refill LPG cylinder is Rs 852.50 in district Srinagar of which the subsidy amount is Rs 396.50 which is credited into the bank account of the consumers,” the statement added.
