Legal aid system going in proper direction in J&K UT: Rijiju

KUPWARA, Oct 30: Union Minister for Law and Justice, Kiren Rijiju today said that Government of India is committed to provide justice to every citizen and various innovative steps have been taken to ensure swift justice delivery system in the the country.
The Minister was addressing awareness cum mega legal aid camp at Chandigam in Lolab valley of Kupwara district.
He said that the objective of his visit to the district is to assess the implementation of the development and welfare oriented programmes initiated by the Government of India. He said that he felt satisfaction while inspecting stalls and receiving feedback from the administration regarding implementation of different Government schemes effectively.
The Minister said that the horticulture and the handicrafts of Kashmir are world famous for quality and uniqueness and added that Union Government is making every possible effort to make J&K a hub of prosperous economy.
Referring to the development of Judiciary, the Minister said that Rs.9000 crore have been allocated for the development of lower judiciary in the country. He praised the para legal volunteers and said that the legal aid system is going in a proper direction in the Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
On the occasion, Justice Ali Mohammad Magrey, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Executive Chairman, J&K Legal Services Authority and Justice Vinod Chatterjee Koul, Judge High Court of J&K and Ladakh and Administrative Judge for district Kupwara also spoke on the occasion and gave detailed awareness regarding legal services initiative and outreach programme initiated by Union Government on October 2, 2021.
Earlier, on his arrival, the minister and the dignitaries inspected various stalls, arranged by different departments and distributed certificates of appreciation and awards among respective beneficiaries. A newsletter magazine published by District Legal Service Authority Kupwara was released in the programme which highlighted the activities and achievements of DLSA Kupwara.
Principal, District & Sessions Judge, Tasleem Arief; Chairman DDC Kupwara, Irfan Sultan Panditpori; Vice Chairman DDC, Haji Farooq Ahmad Mir; Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Imam Din, Member Secretary JKLSA M K Sharma and Secretary DLSA Kupwara, Muzamil Wani were also present on the occasion.
