JAMMU, Dec 25: An emergency meeting of teaching fraternity including +2 Lecturers and JKTF was held at District Headquarter to chalk out further line of action against the recommendations of Cabinet Sub committee to fill the newly created posts of Joint Directors in Education Department by KAS Officers.
The meeting observed that in spite of due competence of the cadre, Govt has taken this discouraging step which is not only disgracing the teaching community but also giving a step motherly treatment to it.
The members said, ” In many other departments, any eligibly officer could be elevated up to the post of Director and also inducted in KAS even, but in Education Department the Govt has withdrawn the avenues already given which is unfortunate and community will not accept it at any cost”.
Terming it clear cut violation of SRO 481, wherein any eligible officer of the cadre to the rank of Joint Director having three years of services could be posted as Director, the members said that it is sorry state of affairs that so many officers even after serving more than 6 years as Joint Directors have not been elevated as Directors.
They added that on one side, Director School Education Kashmir, Dr Shah Faizal advocates for treating teachers as VIPs, and on the other side, the Govt is adding salt to the injuries of the Officers of the Education Department.
As such the teaching community members appealed to the Cabinet Subcommittee members and Chief Minister for his personal intervention in the matter to withdraw such amendments so that further confrontation with the Govt could be avoided and the dignity of cadre be maintained as per the rules already in vogues.
Prominent among those who spoke on the occasion were Jatinder Sethi, Rakesh Singh Jasrotia, R K Abrol, Angrez Singh, Dr Mushtaq Ahmed Wani and others.
