Learning each other’s language can drive economic growth in India, Uzbekistan: Modi

MOSCOW,  July 7:Understanding and learning languages of each other is going to be major driver in strengthening economic ties between India and Uzbekistan,  Prime Minister Narendra Modi said while addressing Indologists in Tashkent today.
“As the country progresses economically, the need for understanding the language of that country becomes more and more important,” Mr Modi said.
“I foresee this is what will happen with India, more and more people around the would be taking interest in Indian languages,” Mr Modi said, drawing parallels between language and culture of India and Uzbekistan.
Mr Modi was addressing Indologists, students and Indian community on the second day of his visit to Uzbekistan. There are more than 3,000 Indians residing in the country.
Lauding an avid interest shown by Uzbeks and Indians in learning each other’s langauge, Mr Modi said,” When we travel abroad, even if we speak one word of native language, it create a powerful and instant bond with the people of the land.  (AGENCIES)
