Leading multinational agencies offer campus job placement in J&K: Dr Jitendra

NEW DELHI, Dec 20 : In less than two months of Jammu & Kashmir having turned into a Union Territory after the abrogation of Article 370, leading Multinational agencies and global job providers are coming forward to offer job placement within campus of various universities and higher educational institutions in Jammu & Kashmir and a beginning in this direction was made today with the submission of a proposal by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) International Limited, a leading multinational professional consultancy firm with its headquarters in London, United Kingdom and India main offices based in Gurugram, Mumbai, Kolkata and other locations.
This was disclosed by Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh after presiding over a meeting, at which Advisor to Government of Jammu & Kashmir, K K Sharma was also present. PwC was represented in the meeting by Shyamal Mukherjee, Chairman PwC India, Deepankar Sanwalka, Advisory Leader PwC India and other senior PwC officials.
Lauding PwC for taking the lead, Dr. Jitendra Singh said this campaign will not result in any additional burden to the exchequer as there is no financial liability for the UT Administration.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the private sector is making a beeline for investment in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. “Within two months of the changed administrative landscape in the newly carved out Union Territory, the private sector is coming in a big way to tap the potential of the youth and economic potential”, he added.
In a brief presentation made to the Union Minister and Advisor J&K, the PwC representatives shared the data gathered by them from Jammu & Kashmir for the purpose of carrying out Youth Engagement Programme (YEP) in the Union Territory. The institutions covered in the data included University of Jammu, University of Kashmir, Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University (SMVDU), Katra, IIT Jammu, IIM Jammu, Government College of Engineering & Technology, Jammu and Institute of Technology, University of Kashmir.
PwC proposal offers campus hiring for jobs in different sectors as well as providing various young engagement programmes for meaningful engagement and livelihood for the youths.
It was decided during the meeting that after initial exercise, PwC will embark on its new initiative in J&K from the month of February 2020. It was also decided that soon, the PwC functionaries will engage with officials of J&K Government for mutual sharing of inputs, but without any financial liability.
