Lay special focus on education to makeover academic losses : Farooq

BUDGAM, Feb 28: The Member Parliament, Srinagar- Budgam, Dr Farooq Abdullah today chaired District Development Coordination & Monitoring Committee, (DISHA) meeting of Budgam to review progress of different Centrally sponsored schemes and other developmental programmes in the district.
Chairman, District Development Council, Nazir Ahmad Khan, BDC Chairpersons, Presidents of Municipal Committees and different Sectoral/District officers attended the meeting.
At the outset the District Development Commissioner Budgam, Shahbaz Ahmed Mirza gave a detailed over view of the developmental scenario/ progress made under different schemes /programmes especially the implementation of Centrally Sponsored Schemes through a PPT.
While discussing the sector wise achievements’ the MP stressed for laying emphasis on the education sector to makeover the academic losses suffered due to the closure of educational institutions during Covid-19 pandemic.
Dr. Farooq Abdullah stressed for providing of better drinking and electricity facility to the people residing in the remotest areas/pockets of the district and stressed speedy completion of all undergoing developmental works.
The MP further stressed on successful implementation of different self- employment schemes for providing more and more job opportunities to the youth of the district.
He called for aggressive promotion of tourist destinations in Budgam, and development of road connectivity link between, Gulmarg, Doodpathri, Tosamaidan and Yousmarg to develop it as a Tourism Circuit.
The MP sanctioned Rs 17.00 lakh out of his MPLAD fund for High School Building at Challyan Choontinar and also agreed for providing of necessary support/funds for establishment of a Drug de-addiction Centre.
During the course of discussion, the Chairperson DDC, Budgam, BDC Chair Person and Presidents of different MCs raised various demands and made suggestions related to connectivity, healthcare, education, sanctioning of separate Development Authority for Nilnag, creation of additional electricity division etc. with the MP for early resolution.
The MP informed that all their genuine issues/demands shall be taken up for consideration.
