JAMMU, Dec 6: The Department Related Standing Committee (DRSC -IV) of Legislative Council has directed the Social Welfare Department to launch special schemes for the benefits of the Gaddi and Sippi communities in line with the Gujjar & Bakerwals as these communities are also engaged in the same profession and activities and deserve all help and special treatment.
The Committee which met here today under the chairmanship of MLC, Naresh Kumar Gupta discussed the functioning of the Social Welfare Department and took stock of various welfare schemes of Centre and State Governments.
Legislators, Ajatshatru Singh and Jehangir Hussain Mir were also present in the meeting.
The Committee asked the Secretary Social Welfare Department to fill up all vacant posts of CDPOs as in absence of these officers the work of the department at the ground level is hampering badly. The Committee also called for promotion of lower staff to remove the stagnation.
The Committee also reviewed the functioning of Women Development Corporation, SCs, STs, OBCs with special focus on the implementation of Tribal Sub Plan and Welfare Plan for other reserved categories. The Department was asked to approach the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and Social Justice for release of funds for these welfare schemes expeditiously so that the benefits of these schemes reach to the designated categories.
The Committee also directed the Secretary Social Welfare to strengthen the monitoring mechanism to tone up the functioning of Anganwari Centres so that the benefits percolate down to the deserving lot at the grass-root level.

Bhatti, Director Tribal Affairs, Ali Raza, Secretary, Advisory Board for the Development of OBCs, Dr Basharat Hussain, Secretary State Social Welfare Board Aamir Ali, Secretary, Women Commission Akbar Wani, Secretary, Advisory Board Development of Pahari Speaking People, Showkat Hussain, Deputy Secretary, LC, Ishfaq Ahmed Wani besides other officers of the department.
