MENDHAR, Aug 14: The last rights of the Police jawan martyred during encounter with terrorists in Kulgam area of Kashmir was performed at his native place in Mendhar Sub Division in district Poonch today.
The police personnel, Tahir Khan (34), was martyred in a grenade attack in the Kulgam district of Kashmir on Saturday. The grenade attack was reported in Kulgam’s Qaimoh area, in which the policeman, Tahir Khan, a residence of Mendhar in Poonch got injured.
He was rushed to the Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag for treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Tahir Khan was only 34 years old and left behind seven siblings and old father. The body of the martyr, wrapped in National Flag arrived at his home village in a decorated police vehicle. In his funeral procession and performing last rites, hundreds of villagers reached Kenalog from the adjoining areas. They paid their tribute to the ‘brave heart’ with heavy heart.
The J&K Police team paid tributes to him with full respect. District Police Officer, Musheen Ahmed, SDPO Mendhar Sheezan Bhatt, SDPO Surankote Tanveer Ahmed and several Army officers were present on the occasion.
