Srinagar, Apr 7: A large number of people today turned up at the BB Cantt of Army to attend the Mega relief distribution camp organized under the aegis of Chinar Corps.
A gathering of approximately 2000 people attended the function and over 300 individuals and large number of institutions benefitted directly from the relief distribution. The event was presided over by Lt Gen Subrata Saha and attended by officials from army, civil administration, BSF and JKP.
During the distribution ceremony Sports items including Table Tennis tables, Cricket kits, Hockey sticks & balls, Basket balls, Volley balls, sports shoes etc were distributed to 7 schools of Srinagar which were badly affected by the flash floods of 2014.
Naqshband Public High School Sarathadal of down Town Area, Srinagar was provided with computers alongwith IT Peripherals. A large amount of Mobility aids & listening aids were provided to the people who needed these aids for leading normal life which included 3 Scooty three – wheelers, 50 wheel chairs, 50 Hearing aids, 30 Spectacles and 25 Crutches. Some needy Awaam who had lost all sources of income during the flash floods were selected by the panel of neutrals and were provided with 15 knitting & stitching machines, 25 Pull Carts and 25 leather Swing Machines.
The Chottey Tarey Foundation, a renowned nonprofit organisation working effortlessly for humanity was provided with Physiotherapy & IT equipments.
Apart from distribution of relief material 38 young persons belonging to various parts of valley were also felicitated by the Chinar Corps, Commander Lt Gen Subrata Saha for having gone through the employment training under Army programme Hunner-se-Rojgar in which 29 youth have already got jobs in various esteemed Hotels of the country.
The GOC, Chinar Corps also felicitated the persons who displayed extra ordinary dedication and relentless service for humanitarian efforts and were presented with Chinar Corps Medallions.
The Medallions were received by Zahoor Dar S/o Abdul Sattar Dar, Gulam Nabi Bhat S/o Gulam Mohd Bhat, Parvez Ahd Dar S/o Ali Mohd Dar, Shaukat Bhatt S/o Gulam Bhatt and Arjaman S/o Abdul Rashid. The certificate of excellence were presented to Moulvi Athwajan, Moulvi Panthachok, Maulvi Batwara, Maulvi Shivpura, Maulvi Iqbal Colony & Maulvi Khonmoh for showing extra ordinary self less devotion in the service of Awaam.
