Landmark of world

Sir,

The Taj Mahal among the top three landmarks of the World.

It is a matter of great pride and joy to read that the Taj Mahal, the white marble mausoleum at Agra and a UNESCO world heritage site, has been ranked among the top three landmarks of the world by the travellers across the world, according to the Trip Advisor’s 2015 Travellers Choice Attractions Award. The Taj Mahal, which was built by the Mughal emperor Shahjahan in1653 in the loving memory of his beloved wife Noor Jehan, has been described as ‘a poem of love in marble’. Shah Jehan wanted it to be as beautiful as his wife and it is said that 20000 workers worked for twenty two years to build this wonderful landmark which is counted among the seven wonders of the world. About 1000 elephants are also believed to have been employed to transport the marble and other construction material from different places to Agra for building this beautiful monument which is visited by millions of people from across the world every year. Luckily,it has survived the ravages of time and nature for hundreds of years since then.It is the pride of India and efforts must be made to protect it from acid rain and other factors which may cause damage to it and diminish its beauty and sheen.

Yours etc….
