JAMMU, Apr 6: Minister for Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Syed Basharat Bhukhari today stressed on providing transparent and accountable governance to people of the State and added that focus should be on eradicating corruption from the system.
The Minister was addressing a meeting of senior officers of Revenue Department convened to take stock of the functioning of the department.
Minister of State for Revenue Sunil Kumar Sharma was present in the meeting.
Secretary, Revenue Muhammad Afzal Bhat, Additional Secretaries, Deputy Secretaries and other senior officers of Revenue Department attended the meeting.
The Minister directed officers to ensure time bound disposal of all matters pertaining to Revenue especially issuance of Intikhab, Shajra etc. He also directed officers to have an effective monitoring mechanism for smooth functioning of the department and ensure that people of the State do not suffer for petty things.
The Minister also discussed various issues relating to the manpower of the department. He also received first hand appraisal about the long stay of Patwaris.
With regard to retrieving of State and Kahcharai land from encroachers, the Minister directed the officers to implement the Acts and laws presently in vogue in letter and spirit. He said that no one will be allowed to encroach the land and added that anybody found indulge in grabbing the State or Kahcharai land, will be dealt strictly in accordance with law.
