Land grab case: former Congress Minister registered with others

SRINAGAR: State Vigilance Organisation (SVO) today registered a case against former minister and senior Congress leader Taj Mohiuddin and others in a land grabbing case in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.

The FIR was registered against Taj and others after inquiry into the allegation were proved that they were involved in land grabbing case, a SVO official said.

The investigation was launched following media reports in December 2010 that Taj, then minister, had grabbed forest land in south Kashmir.

He said a case FIR No. 06/2016 under section 5(1)(d) r/w 5(2) J&K Prevention of Corruption Act sections 468, 471 and 120-B Ranbir Penal Code (RPC) in Police Station Vigilance Organization Kashmir was registered against Atiqullah Shah, son of Sonuallah Shah, resident of Chimar Noorabad Kulgam and other officers and officials of Revenue Department and the beneficiary Taj Mohi-ud-Din, son of Khuda Baksh, resident of Batmaloo.

During the verification it was revealed that the mutation No. 551 dated 29.12.1992 under Survey No. 3 for 18 kanals 02 marlas was shown recorded under section 4 and 21 of Agrarian Reforms Act, 1976 under fictitious and fraudulent signatures of the then Tehsildar by the then Clerk Tehsil Office Shopian Atiqulla shah.
