JAMMU, June 14: Minister for Health and Medical, ARI and Trainings, Ch Lal Singh today paid surprise visit to Primary Health Centre at Tikri in Udhampur and found the concerned doctors absent from duty.
Taking a serious note of the matter, the Minister asked Director Health Services to place Dr Shivani under suspension while he ordered termination of Dr Shikha who was appointed under NRHM.
During his visit the Minister also caught officials of PHC Tikri consuming alcohol during duty hours in the office premises. Pharmacist Laxmi Dubey and Nursing Orderly Ashok Kumar were arrested by the police after their medical examination while two officials Bupinder Singh a Dental Technician and Rakesh Kumar fled from the spot.
The Minister has directed the concerned SHO to arrest those officials immediately.
Director General ISM Dr. Abdul Kabir Dar, Mission Director NHM Dr. Yash Pal Sharma, Director Health Services Dr. Baljet Singh Pathania, Director Family Welfare Dr. Baldev Sharma, Chief Medical Oficer, Jammu Dr. Robinder Gupta, Deputy Director (HQ) Dr. Ajay Gupta, Chief Medical Officer Dr. Basant Kumar besides other senior officers of Health Department accompanied the Minister.
The Minister also visited the Primary Health Centre, Garhi and found 16 staff members including medicos and paramedics absent from duty and only one pharmacist was present in the hospital.
Ch Lal Singh has directed the Director Health Services to seek explanation from the absentees including Block Medical Officer Vijay Basotra for negligence of duty.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated New Type Primary Health Centre at Chibba in Dansal block.
The Minister directed the hospital management to provide 24-hour best Medicare facilities to the people so that the people of Chibba, Basner, Marh, Drabi, Bamyal, Pangali, Dadyal do not have to travel to Jammu for treatment. He said all efforts are afoot to equip PHC Chibba with latest technique equipments.
Ch Lal Singh directed the medicos and paramedics to remain present in the hospital as per duty roasters and to leave the work station only when their reliever assumes duty. He said Government is committed to provide best healthcare facilities to the people in every nook and corner of the State. He asked the staff members to increase OPD and IPD in the hospital and also maintain cleanliness in and around the hospital.
