NEW DELHI, May 10: Minister of Forests, Ecology and Environment Choudary Lal Singh today met Union Minister for Rural Development, Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Choudhary Birender Singh at Krishi Bhawan and sought adequate support for afforestation and related activities under integrated water shed management project in the State.
Ch Lal Singh discussed the issues pertaining to developing agro based activities, afforestation to provide sustainable livelihood and better food security to the people residing in the water shed area.
Responding to the issues raised by the Forest Minister, the Union Minister of RDD assured to fast track process for effective implementation of water shed schemes in J&K.
Later, Choudhary Lal Singh also had a meeting with Union Minister of State for Forest, Environment and Climate change Prakash Javadekar and discussed various issues for environmental conservation in the State.
Director Forest Protection Force Suresh Gupta and Director Ecology, Environment and Remote Sensing O P Sharma accompanied the Minister.
