KATHUA, Oct 26: Minister for Health and Medical Education, Ch. Lal Singh, today reiterated Government’s commitment to strengthen healthcare infrastructure in the State with advanced diagnostic and treatment facilities.
The Minister, while addressing a gathering after inaugurating a free surgical camp held in CHC Basohli, said that such camps prove to be of immense help for people of far off and remote areas who otherwise suffer a lot due to lack of these vital services.
The camp was organized by the department in collaboration with Onkar Singh Memorial Trust, New Delhi during which a team of senior doctors conducted major surgeries.
Earlier, the Minister inspected the CHC Basohli and enquired about the facilities being provided to the patients. He visited OPD, general wards and other units to take stock of the services being available there.
Meanwhile, the Minister convened a public grievance redressal camp in the premises of CHC Basohli in which people of the town and adjoining panchayats apprised him of their problems which were mainly related to road connectivity, electricity, ration and drinking water.
Lal Singh said that Government has devised an innovative plan envisaging expansion of best healthcare facilities and other basic amenities with emphasis on accelerating developmental pace in rural and hilly areas. He said that a proposal for construction of Dhar Mahanpur and Dhar Dugnu roads has been sent to the centre. He informed that a Critical Care Ambulance equipped with 34 medical facilities including ventilator has been handed over to CHC Basohli.
Lal Singh said that CHC Basohli will be developed as Model Hospital with all modern healthcare facilities besides provision of 24 hrs OPD during which 4 Gynecologists, 4 Surgeons and 3 physician will be available in the hospital. He also informed that two ventilators, two additional operation theatres, digital X Ray machine, CT Scan machine and blood bank will be provided soon in CHC Basohli. He said that possibilities would be explored to establish an institute for training of nurses in tehsil Basohli soon.
Ch Lal Singh said that Basohli will be developed as big tourist destination for which modern water sports and recreational park will be constructed near Ranjit Sagar Dam to attract heavy tourist influx.
