Lal Singh flays delayed wages under MGNREGA

KISHTWAR, June 1: Member Parliament, Ch. Lal Singh, today reviewed the physical and financial achievements recorded by various departments under different centrally sponsored schemes at Kishtwar at a District Level Vigilance Monitoring Committee meeting.
MLA Kishtwar, Sajjad Ahmad Kichloo, MLA Inderwal, G.M Saroori, District Development Commissioner, Kishtwar Saleem Mohammad besides other district and sectoral officers and members of the Committee besides prominent citizens were present in the meeting.
Chairman, District Level Vigilance and Monitoring Committee Kishtwar, Lal Singh directed the officers to keep close eye on implementation of State and centrally sponsored schemes for better results. He directed the ACD to ensure timely payment of daily wages to the workers under MGNREGS.
While reviewing PMGSY, Mr. Singh directed the XEn to speed up the pace of works so that these could be completed within the prescribed time frame. He directed the concerned officers to improve the road connectivity in village Pochhal, Kishtwar Town and other areas on priority basis.
Mr. Singh also directed the CMO to mobilize field functionaries so that the healthcare facilities could be extended to the people living in far flung and hilly areas in time. He also asked him to engage more doctors under NRHM for DH Kishtwar so that the people don’t suffer. He said Government is making all efforts to boost and strengthen the healthcare delivery system in the region especially in view of its tough terrain.
MLA, Mr Kichloo said that there is huge deficiency of man power in various departments which is directly affecting the developmental activities in the district. He also said that there is need to amend the MGNREGA guidelines for hilly and far flung areas for better working.
MLA Inderwal G.M Saroori said that there is need of timely submission of bills so that timely wages could be provided to the poor waged labour. He said that liberal funding is being provided from the Central Government so that the targeted population get benefit of the schemes. He directed the officers to make plans as per aspiration and requirement of the people so that effective implementation of plans could be ensured.
