A bridge over Bringi Nallah at Lakripora area in South Kashmir’s Anantnag was constructed decades ago and connects several villages including some famous tourist destinations like Verinag and National Highway as well . However, this single lane bridge is causing traffic halts and lot of inconvenience to the public. But it appears that the authorities are least bothered.
Heavy vehicles laden with fruits during the current season are often struck on the bridge and causing traffic mess. Long waits for the commuters or even returning half way has become routine for most of the residents using this bridge. The new bridge sanctioned by the authorities adjacent to the existing old bridge several years ago is , however, being constructed but at such a speed that it is feared to get it completed after years together. The contractor is alleged to be wilfully obstructing the work for unknown reasons and even outsourcing it to other contractors leading to the mess and inordinate delay. The public wants the authorities concerned to address the issue on priority.
