KATHUA, July 2: The residents of Lakhanpur held a protest demonstration against the Municipal Committee (MC) for its failure in vacating the State land meant for Gowsala, (Cowshed) at Lakhanpur.
The protestors in large numbers assembled in front of Municipal Committee Lakhanpur and raised protest against Municipal Committee Chairman, Surmu Din and EO Narinder Singh. They alleged that the Municipal Committee, Lakhanpur has failed to vacate the one canal 10 marlas of land meant for cow shed despite the court orders issued five year earlier.
They said a protest in this regard was also held 15 days earlier and Committee had assured to take action. But no action has been taken so far. They accused the MC Lakhanpur of shielding the land encroachers and it did not take action against the encroachers of Government land.
They said the stray animals are moving on road causing serious accidents and injuries to passersby at Lakhanpur.
The MC Chairman, Surmu Din later assured the protestors to take action in the matter and get the land vacated.
