KATHUA, June 29: In continuation to strict measures to thwart conspiracies of bovine smugglers, a team of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur succeeded in foiling bovine smuggling bid and rescued 17 bovine animals and seized the truck involved here, today.
A team of PS Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Sanjeev Chib, SHO while on patrolling/naka checking duty at Bye-Pass road Lakhanpur intercepted a truck bearing Registration No. PB02CC 9677 which was coming from Punjab towards Kathua. After signaling to stop for checking on seeing police party, the driver stopped the vehicle behind the naka point and fled away from the spot by taking the advantage of darkness. During checking of the vehicle 17 bovine animals were found loaded in the vehicles in a cruel manner which clearly shows that they were illegally transported.
A case FIR No. 60/2020 U/S 188, IPC 11 PCA Act has been registered at P/S Lakhanpur and further investigation is going on.
