KATHUA Feb 5: Police today arrested one tout at Lakhanpur check point for fraudulently ferrying passengers from other states in JK UT by violating COVID SOPs and guidelines.
Police said an information was received through the reliable sources regarding the facilitation to illegal entry by some unknown persons at Lakhanpur check point into the JK UT.
Acting on this, police team of Police Station (PS), Lakhanpur led by Inspector, Surinder Paul Singh, SHO PS Lakhanpur under the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, R C Kotwal- today succeeded in arresting one person namely Mohammad Shamim, son of Bashir Ahmed of Bro Andoi, tehsil and district Kathua who was fraudulently ferrying the passengers coming from outside into J&K UT and through his car bearing Registration Number JK08A-3105 which was also seized.
After sustained questioning, he confessed that he had been involved in making people cross illegally from outside into J&K UT without following the SOP of COVID-19 Pandemic and was collecting money for this.
In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 13/2022 U/S 188/420/269/270/IPC has been registered at Police Station Lakhanpur and further investigation has been started. Moreover, same nature of case vide FIR No. 28/2021 U/S 188/269/270/IPC already stands registered against him at Police Station Lakhanpur during the last year, police added.
