LAHDC Leh delegation calls on LG Mathur, urges for evacuation of stranded people

LEH, Apr 19: The Chairman/Chief Executive Councillor of LAHDC Leh, Gyal P Wangyal along with Dy Chairman Tsering Sandup and Executive Councillor for Education Konchok Stanzin today called on Lt Governor R K Mathur at Raj Niwas and took up the matter of making necessary arrangements for evacuation of patients, students, pilgrims and passengers of Leh stranded in different cities of India.
The delegation apprised LG Mathur that due to the prevailing lockdown situation, the stranded people of Leh are facing severe difficulties. CEC said that LAHDC Leh is being constantly approached by stranded souls and informed that due to increase in temperature, accommodation and ration problems, they are facing genuine difficulties on many fronts including reports of depression among the elderly and students.
The delegation requested LG Mathur for evacuation of stranded patients, students, pilgrims and passengers of Leh at the earliest as has been done in evacuation of stranded pilgrims of Kargil saying that resentment among stranded souls and their families here in Leh is brewing.
Giving patient hearing to the issues, LG Mathur gave assurance that the matter will be taken up with Home Ministry of GoI for evacuation of stranded souls at the earliest.
