MENDHAR, July 24: A lady SPO posted in Mendhar Police Station was killed in a road accident today.
The deceased has been identified as Kouser Fatima, wife of Kale Shah, resident of Darana in Gohlad (Mendhar). She had been deployed at Fagwari Gate near the LoC for frisking women under 5 Grenadier’s (Army) area of responsibility. She was returning home after performing her duty last evening on a motorcycle of her relative, Nazak Hussain.The bike skidded off the road and fell into a gorge. Both received serious injuries and were shifted to Mendhar hospital.
Kouser was referred to GMC Hospital Jammu for serious head injuries but she died on the way near Sunderbani, during early hours today. Her body was brought back to Mendhar and was buried this afternoon. SDPO, Mendhar Amit Bhasin and SHO, Bishnesh Kumar were also present at the funeral.
