JAMMU, Jan 29: Police rescued a woman who fell into a canal in Bhagwati Nagar area here.
“An information was received this morning at Canal Police Post that an unknown lady fell into the Canal near cremation ground at Bhagwati Nagar based Yatri Niwas,” police spokesman here said.
He said that in-charge PP Canal Sub Inspector Sohan Singh alongwith his team reached to the spot and rescued the lady with the help of some locals of the area.
The lady was identified as Chanchala Devi of Kota Dhar, Sudhmahadev District Udhampur and presently staying at Paloura, Jammu.
“After knowing her whereabouts she was handed over to Pouni Chak police in presence of her son. Earlier she was also given first-aid after rescue,” he added.
