BHADERWAH, Mar 28: Death of a lady here today by bike hit triggered protest demonstration at Seri Bazar.
Eyewitnesses informed that a rashly driven bike hit an elderly lady near ICICI Bank Bhaderwah on Chobia Link Road after which the biker ran away leaving the victim in pool of blood.
Locals with the help of Police shifted the injured woman to SDH Bhaderwah from where she was referred to GMC Doda but she succumbed to her injuries en-route GMC.
The deceased was identified as Bimla Dogra, wife of Joginder Pal Dogra, resident of Ganpat Bazaar, Bhaderwah.
After the news of her death spread, people of Bhaderwah from all sections of the society came together and staged a protest demonstration against stunt bikers and Traffic Police for not taking action against rash driving.
President Sanatan Dharam Sabha Bhaderwah, Varinder Razdan, Naseer Mehboob, YAC President, Neeraj Manhas, BJP leader, Koshal Yogi, senior citizens, youths, shopkeepers and others participated in the protest and demanded stern action against the accused.
When contacted ASP Bhaderwah, Vinod Sharma informed that the after identification, the accused person has been arrested and his bike was seized.
He further said that a special drive was underway to nab stunt bikers in and around Bhaderwah.
