Srinagar, Mar 16: A pregnant lady has allegedly died due to medical negligence at SKIMS Medical College and Hospital, Bemina last night.
The lady who breathed her last was a resident of Humhama area of Budgam district. She died due to alleged medical negligence after she was admitted to the hospital.
The deceased has been identified as Mymoona, wife of Rafiq Ahmad of Humhama who was pregnant and was admitted to the hospital. She, however, died due to the reasons that are yet not known. But, the family alleged that it happened due to the negligence of the doctors.
After the lady died, the family members of the deceased held protest demonstration inside the hospital premises demanding stern action against the ‘accused’ doctor. Police had also rushed to the spot to pacify the family members.
The officials of the hospital said they were ascertaining the facts and looking into the matter. They also said that the administration was also looking at the allegations of medical negligence.
Medical Superintendent, SKIMS Hospital and Medical College Dr Shifa Deva told Excelsior that she has sought a detailed report from the Head of the Department regarding the incident and the details will be brought out.
“I have asked the concerned HoD to file a report regarding the issue by tomorrow; once that will be done, we will be able to say what has actually went wrong,” she said.
She, however, categorically rubbished the claims of the family that the patient died due to the negligence of the doctors on duty. “While we have ordered that the facts about incident should be put before us, I am telling you that it was not a case of medical negligence at all,” she said.
