Lady dies due to alleged absence of docs, people protest

KISHTWAR, Dec 30: The residents of snow bound Marwah area held protest against the death of a lady due to absence of doctors at local Primary Health Centre (PHC).
A large number of residents assembled at Marwah and amid slogans against the district administration took out a protest rally.They alleged that district administration has failed to take action against the officials posted in the Marwah area. The protest was led by PDP MLC Firdous Tak.

“A lady namely Jana Begum was shifted to local PHC due to some medical complicacy, where she died due to absence of doctors and paramedical staff”, the residents said and demanded immediate action against the doctors and paramedical staff posted in the PHC.
While speaking, MLC Firdous Tak said that the lady died due to absence of doctors and paramedical staff and strict action should be taken against the officials posted in this local PHC at Marwah.
He added that for the past one month, no doctor and paramedical staff are coming to the PHC to perform their duties. People of Marwah are on roads for the past around fifteen days, but no action has been taken against the doctors and paramedical staff posted in the local PHC, he stated.
“All the Government offices in Marwah remain locked and I took up this issue especially of PHC with district administration and Divisional Commissioner, but no action has been taken as a result the lady lost her life on account of absence of doctors and paramedical staff in PHC.
He threatened to intensify their protest if the demands of people residing in Marwah are not redressed in the shortest possible time.
