Lady among two arrested with illicit liquor

JAMMU, May 8: Keeping watch over illegal activities during the ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic, Akhnoor Police arrested two persons including a lady along with illicit liquor.
As per police sources, on specific information about a lady indulged in preparing and selling of illicit liquor to people of her area during the ongoing lockdown amid COVID-19 pandemic, a team from Akhnoor Police Station conducted raid in Nardiwala area.
During the raid, the team arrested a lady, who was selling the illicit liquor a person to make illegitimate profits. The person buying the illicit liquor was also arrested.
Around 7 litres of illicit liquor was recovered from the possession of the lady and the man.
The arrested persons were identified as Ranjeet Kour, wife of late Jatinder Singh, a resident of Nardiwala Tehsil Maira Mandrian, District Jammu and Chhotu Ram, son of Ambu Ram of Taroti Camp Tehsil Khour District Jammu.
A case under FIR Number 57/2020 under Section 48 (a) Excise Act has been registered against the arrested persons at Akhnoor Police Station and investigation started.
Police team led by SHO Akhnoor Inspector Pardeep Sharma and assisted by ASI Parshotam Kumar, HC Ajay Kumar, Follower Preeti Devi, SPO Pawan Kumar and BHG Rajni Devi made the arrest under the supervision of SDPO Akhnoor Ajay Sharma, SP Rural Suram Singh and SSP Jammu Sridhar Patil.
