JAMMU, May 12: The UT administration of Ladakh has finalized Union Territory of Ladakh Police (Subordinate) Services Recruitment (Revised) Rules, 2026 which will come into force with immediate effect.

The Police Subordinate Services in Ladakh will comprise General (Executive, Armed/Indian Reserve Battalion (IR), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Women battalion and border battalion; Telecommunication, Ministerial Executive and Photography.
Members of the General Cadre shall be liable to be posted, transferred or deployed to any of its constituent (Executive, Armed/IR Bn, SDRF, Women and Border battalion)
With new Rules coming into forces, the Ladakh Police Subordinate Services Rules, 2021, gave been repealed, a notification issued by the UT administration of Ladakh, said.
The General Cadre (Executive, Armed/IR battalion, SDRF, Women and Border battalions) will have 1560 posts from Follower to Inspector ranks while Armed/IR battalion will have 952 posts in the similar ranks.
The Women battalion will have 162 posts while the Border Battalion will have 270 posts. The Border Battalion will have Selection Grade Constables/ Constables from district Changthang (42), Nubra (76), Sham (17), Kargil (81) and Drass (54).
The Telecommunication cadre will have 136 posts while Photo Cadre will have six posts only. The Ministerial Executive Cadre will have 18 posts.
Posts from other Departments include four in Finance Department, two in Planning Development and Monitoring Department and 15 in Medical Department.
Meanwhile, through another notification, the Home Department of Ladakh has also conferred powers of the District Magistrate to all five Deputy Commissioners of newly created districts including Sham, Nubra, Changthang, Zanskar and Drass.
“The District Magistrates shall exercise jurisdiction within the territorial limits of the respective districts as notified vide Revenue Department notification on April 27, 2026.
