Labourer hurt in grenade explosion

POONCH, Oct 3: A Bihari labourer was injured when a grenade exploded in the under construction Mini-Secretariat complex here today.
The mishap took place when Sheraz Ahmed, resident of Bihar, presently residing in Poonch city was at work in the secretariat complex. Some labourers were also living in the same complex in the huts. Sheraz found a shell type object abandoned in the complex and tried to fiddle with it. Then suddenly, it exploded with big bang. Sheraz sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Poonch hospital.
Police and Army officials rushed to the site. It was later realized that during recent operation against hiding militants in this complex, Army and Police had launched heavy firing and shelling. A live shell remained there is the sand unnoticed. The innocent labourer found it and started fiddling and got injured. An inquiry has been ordered in this connection.
