Labourer held with illicit liquor

JAMMU, Dec 11: Nehru Market police today arrested a labourer along with 39 pouches of illicit liquor from Ware House area here today.
As per police sources, on specific information about smuggling of illicit liquor, police team from Nehru Market police post laid a naka at Ware House area and intercepted a pedestrian on suspicious ground.
During checking, police recovered 39 pouches (250 ml each) of illicit liquor and arrested the accused, who has been identified as Om Parkash, son of Baldev Thakur, a resident of Ranchi, at present Belichara.
The accused was carrying the illicit liquor to distribute among the people in Belichara area, but was nabbed by the active cops of Nehru Market police post.
The accused was carrying the illicit liquor, which was above the permissible limit of the Election Authorities. The permissible limit is 9 litres and the man was carrying the illicit liquor above the limit.
A case under Section 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Nehru Market police post and investigation started.
Police team led by Incharge Nehru Market police post SI Khyati Maan Khajuria made the arrest under the supervision of SHO Gandhi Nagar Paramjeet Singh, SDPO Gandhi Nagar Harjeet Singh, SP South Rahul Malik and SSP Jammu Uttam Chand.
