KVK Poonch organizes Pre-Kharif Kissan Mela

POONCH, Aug 18: Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Poonch organized a mega Pre-Kharif Kissan Mela along with an exhibition and Kissan Ghosti at KVK Campus here today. More than 300 farmers from every nook and corner of the district participated in the mela.
The programmed was chaired by  Jahangir Mir,  Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council J&K and presided over by Dr  P  K  Sharma,  Vice-Chancellor SKUAST-Jammu while Dr  K  S  Risam, Director Extension and Dr  Verma were the guests of honour.
During the mela, exhibition stalls were displayed by KVK Poonch, MBRSS, Poonch, Agriculture and allied departments showing their activities. The exhibition stall was inaugurated by Jahangir Ahmad Mir and Yashpal Sharma in the presence of Vice-Chancellor and others.
In his address, Deputy Chairman, Legislative Council applauded the Vice Chancellor and Director Extension SKUAST-Jammu for organizing the Kisan Mela.  He also presented the best farmer award to three progressive farmers namely Bansi Lal of Degwar, Mohd Zaman of Uchhad and S Amrik Singh of Jhallas.
Dr P K Sharma, in his address, discussed different central schemes for farmers and unemployed rural youth for livelihood security in rural areas.  He stressed upon implementation of these schemes in Poonch District.  He also assured full cooperation from University authorities to the KVK for widening and expanding its working spectrum so that more and more farmers are benefited across the length and breadth of the Poonch district.
Dr K S Risam    apprised the farmers about the utility and benefits of conducting Pre Kharif Kissan Mela.
While addressing the farmers Dr Sanjay Swami, Programme Coordinator KVK-Poonch briefed them about the various activities carried out by the KVK.
Among the other officers, who participated in the programme, were Chief Agricultural Officer, Chief Horticulture Officer, Animal Husbandry Officer, District Sheep Husbandry Officer etc.
The programme ended with the formal vote of thanks proposed by S S Jamwal, Programme Assistant of KVK-Poonch.
