Srinagar Feb 2: The residents of Thandipora area of north Kashmir’s Kupwara district are facing prolonged power cuts for the last one month due to which they have to spend maximum hours in darkness.
The residents said for the past one month the power scenario has worsened as the department was resorting to unscheduled and frequent power cuts. “We are receiving electricity for one or two hours in a day and for the rest of the time we are in darkness. While demanding the immediate intervention of the higher authorities, locals said they have repeatedly taken up the matter with officials in charge of receiving station at Kralpora, but to no avail. “Some of the employees deputed there are from nearby villages and they divert the power supply of our village to their respective areas. We have taken up the issue with the concerned authorities but nothing happened,” another local said.
