Kulgam Police solves ATM loot case, 4 arrested

Kulgam, June 27: Kulgam police today solved ATM loot case, while saying that it retrieved the stolen money and arrested four accused persons involved in the crime.
Detailing it, the police said during the intervening night of June 19/20 burglars dismantled the ATM of State Bank of India near Fruit Mandi Kulgam and used a vehicle to transport it to a safer place.
“Next day PS Kulgam on a specific input recovered the damaged ATM in a deserted area of Laroo in District Kulgam,” it said.
Police acting on a tip-off launched a manhunt and arrested the burglars namely Liyaqat Ahmad Shiekh S/O Mohd Afzal Shiekh, Umer Akbar Shiekh S/O Mohd Akber, Yawar Ahmad Lone S/O Mubarakh Ahmad-all residents of Khasipora Shopian. Junaid Bashir Bhat S/O Bashir Ahmad R/O Nonmie, Yaripora.
Later Rs 8,65,800 was recovered from the damaged ATM with the help of experts from JK Bank and SDRF.
Regarding the incident Case FIR No.121/2020 U/S 457, 380 IPC already stands registered in Police station Kulgam and further investigation into the matter is still in progress.
