Kulgam, Kupwara, Srinagar top contributors to COVID-19 +ve cases

Srinagar, June 4: District Kulgam has got the highest number of travellers testing positive for COVID-19 in Kashmir valley followed by Kupwara, Srinagar, Pulwama and Budgam. In terms of the number of overall cases, the district tops the list across Valley with least recoveries so far.
As per the data available, the district Kulgam accounts for 67 per cent of total positive cases in the district. Out of total 313 cases as on June 3, 210 are travellers while as 103 are others.
Similarly, the second-highest contributor to positive cases in terms of travellers, Kupwara, has got 56 per cent of cases who travelled back home from various states of the country and tested positive here. The district has a total of 299 positive cases, out of which 169 are travellers and 130 are others.
District Srinagar comes on number 3 with a total of 48 per cent positive cases of those who travelled back home. The district has a total of 319 cases, out of which 156 are travellers 163 are others.
Furthermore, Pulwama has 36 per cent of cases that of travellers, followed by Budgam, Baramulla, Bandipora, Shopian and Anantnag with 33, 19, 13, 8 and 7 per cent of cases of travellers respectively.
In terms of the total contribution in the cases across the Valley districts, Kulgam accounts for the highest. Out of 737 total cases of travellers across Valley, Kulgam contributes 28 per cent to the caseload.
Similarly, Kupwara contributes 22 per cent of positive cases to the caseload, followed by Srinagar which contributes 21 per cent of positive cases to the caseload across the valley.
Bandipora, which once had the highest number of positive cases, contributes a mere 2 per cent of positive cases of travellers to the caseload. Pulwama, Budgam, Shopian, Anantnag and Baramulla contribute 5, 5, 2, 3 and 7 per cent respectively to the caseload in terms of travellers.
It is worth to be mentioned here, there are in total 2212 positive cases in Kashmir districts, out of which 737 are travellers and the rest, 1475 cases are others.
