SRINAGAR, Feb 23: Vice Chancellor University of Kashmir, Prof Talat Ahmad has stressed upon the need to formulate a robust mechanism so as to the develop colleges and universities of the State and achieve intended academic results through continuous exchange of ideas between the faculty and by developing better academic linkages.
While interacting with around 50 faculty members of various colleges, universities of the Valley and PG Departments of the University of Kashmir during a 3-week long winter school refresher course organized by Academic Staff College (ASC), he said, “If we are to achieve better academic results it’s imperative that colleges across the State be developed so that academic activities in these institutions get a boost.”
While responding to the queries from the college teachers on the occasion Prof Talat said “Development of colleges in terms of infrastructure and faculty is an important issue in higher education and university administration of course with the support of State Government will try to assist colleges in their development.”
Speaking on the occasion, Director Academic Staff College Prof Farooq Fayaz said “Course was intended at developing friendly relationship between the university and the college teachers so as to further improve the functioning of the colleges.”
Earlier course coordinator Prof M Shafi while presenting a report of the winter school refresher course said that 55 applications were received for the course from across the country and 48 later joined the course.
He said “So far 40 sessions have been conducted on various themes including Indian economy, Technology-Innovation-Patenting, Intellectual traditions of Kashmir, Human governance in South Asia, Kashmir and Central Asia neighborhood and Choice-based-credit –based system.”
