SRINAGAR, Jan 12: In order to facilitate mutual cooperation for the promotion of academic excellence in areas of research and faculty/ student exchange programmes, the University of Kashmir signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Shinawatra International University Thailand (SIU), here today.
While signing the MoU Vice -Chancellor University of Kashmir Prof Talat said that the MoU with the Shinawatra University is a part of the academic process initiated by KU for the last two years where the University has entered into meaningful academic collaborations with various academic and research institutes of the country and the world to promote and encourage faculty /student exchange programs and to give impetus to the overall research quality of the Varsity.
Prof Voradej Chandarasorn, president of Shinawatra International University said that the Universities besides allowing the scholars/students to attend classes/seminars in each other’s universities would provide access to them to their respective libraries, archives, research laboratories and other facilities.
He added that under the terms of the MoU the Universities would provide access to high –end instruments and equipments to each other’s faculty/scholars/students.
Prof Chandarasorn said that SIU has students from 24 nations of the world and is presently running 15 programs which include 11 international programs and 4 Thai programs.
Dean Academic Affairs KU Prof AM Shah presented a brief overview of the University of Kashmir, while Registrar University of Kashmir Prof Zaffar Ahmed Reishi presented vote of thanks on the occasion.
Earlier, welcome address was presented by Dean Faculty of Education University of Kashmir Prof Nighat Basu.
The other members of the delegation who represented the University of Kashmir during the signing of the MoU were Dean Research Prof Khursheed Andrabi, Controller of Examinations Prof AS Bhat and Dean College Development Council Prof GM Shah whereas those who represented the SIU included Ms Tanarat Teeratsnskiat Director of admissions (SIU), PoI Maj GenVoradej Pisutsak advisor to President of SIU and Prof Kantatip Sinhaneti Associate Dean SIU.
