SRINAGAR, June 24: The Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, University of Kashmir, in collaboration with Shree Hanuman Vyayam Prasarak Mandal (HVPM), Amravati, is hosting the “3rd International Conference on Yoga and Sports for Global Wellbeing” from today.
The event has brought together distinguished scholars, practitioners, and enthusiasts from around the world, marking a significant milestone in the promotion of holistic well-being.
The two-day conference was inaugurated today with an address by the Registrar, Professor Naseer Iqbal, who conveyed the message of the Vice Chancellor, Professor Nilofer Khan, who could not attend the event in person due to her commitments to some other important administrative assignments.
The keynote address was delivered by Professor Ganesh Shankar, a renowned expert in the field, who shared his profound insights on the transformative power of yoga and sports.
Professor Khurshid Ahmad Bhat, Dean of College Development Council, also addressed the gathering, underscoring the critical role of interdisciplinary collaboration in enhancing the understanding and practice of yoga and sports.
Throughout the day, the conference featured a series of engaging sessions and discussions on various topics related to yoga and sports. Esteemed speakers from various countries shared their research findings and practical experiences, contributing to a rich exchange of knowledge.
Sheikh Adil, Gymnasium Coach, and Dr Iftikhar Ahmad Wani, Assistant Professor, continued as the anchors of the conference, ensuring smooth transitions and maintaining the event’s engaging flow.
The presence and active participation of faculty members, including Dr Surjeet Singh, Dr Naseer Ahmad Bhat, and Dr Iqbal Kabir, played a crucial role in making the conference a success.
Dr Mandeep Singh, Chairman of the conference and Director/HoD of the Directorate of Physical Education and Sports, highlighted the Directorate’s ongoing efforts in organizing such impactful events. Dr Surjeet Singh delivered the vote of thanks.
The conference will continue tomorrow, 25th June 2024, with more insightful sessions and discussions planned.
