SRINAGAR, June 18: The University of Kashmir today urged all its affiliated Government and private colleges to upload requisite information on the All India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE) portal by June 30, 2015.
KU Registrar, Prof Zaffar Ahmad Reshi-who heads the University’s AISHE Cell- said while it is heartening that many government colleges are cooperating in timely uploading of the vital information, he expressed concern over delay by private colleges to do the same.
Under the AISHE, the Ministry of Human Resource Development collects online information on higher educational institutions for making informed policy decisions.
Prof Zaffar said non-compliance by colleges to upload the information by June 30, 2015 can have a direct bearing on renewal of their affiliation with the University. “The information on students, teachers, infrastructure, academic programmes etc. sought by the MHRD is very important for funding and policy planning for our higher educational institutions. If the same is not uploaded in time, it can impinge upon the funding pattern for these institutions under various central schemes like RUSA,” he said.
Prof Zaffar was speaking at the inaugural session of one-day awareness-cum-training workshop for college nodal officers of AISHE. The workshop was organized by AISHE Cell of the Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA), University of Kashmir.
In his inaugural address, Principal Amar Singh College Srinagar Prof Zahoor Ahmad Chatt- who is also Nodal Officer of Colleges in Kashmir division-said access to higher education is a major issue in India. “An objective of AISHE is to raise this access to higher education and go for proper policy making and funding in the sector,” he said.
Director DIQA Prof Fayaz Ahmad said as far as uploading data on AISHE portal is concerned, “private colleges have so far shown a poor performance.”
Deputy Director DIQA Showkat Shafi conducted proceedings of the workshop.
