SRINAGAR : A delegation of Bio-resources students of Kashmir University today called on Minister for Education, Syed Altaf Bukhari, and urged him to make efforts for the introduction of Bio-resource subject in Colleges and Higher Secondary Schools of the State.
The delegation briefed the Minister that the subject was started in Kashmir University in the year 2009. They informed the Minister that the stream encompasses a wider range of technologies and various elements such as biomass, biological waste treatment, bio-energy, bio-transformations and bio-resource systems analysis, and technologies associated with thermo chemical conversion technologies and as such provides huge employment opportunities.
The Students said the Minister that the introduction of the subject would go a long way in addressing the unemployment issues in the State. The Minister gave a patient hearing to the students and assured them that their suggestion would be looked into and necessary measures would be taken to introduce the subject in higher education institutes.
