Kshama Kaul’s novel on Amarnath land row hits stands

JAMMU, Dec 7: After her highly debated Novel Dardpur based on pangs of migration and forced exile of Kashmiri Pandits which earned acclamation all over in intellectual circles, Dr Kshama Kaul’s another novel “Nikki Tawi Par Rehearsal”  hits stands today.
The novel, which is based on the Amarnath land row agitation was released at a grand function organised by Sanmukh  in Jammu Club here this evening. A galaxy of intellectuals, writers, poets, prominent citizens and the people who played lead role in the land row agitation in Jammu attended the function.
Dr Om Parakash Gupt, former HoD Hindi Jammu University was the chief guest on the occasion while complimenting the exemplary efforts of Dr Kshama Kaul in documenting the historic Swami Amarnath agitation of common masses of Jammu region in the year 2008, underlined at length the literary and historical importance of “Nikki Tawi Par Rehearsal”.
He said Dr Kaul has given a full space to Jammu region and its people in her novel, allowing the rest of world to know the injustice meted out to the people of Jammu from time to time.
Terming the Novel a pain of life, he highly appreciated the book. He said though here name is Kshama (to forgive) but she hardly forgives any one in her writings.
On the occasion Prof Sanjay Sharma was felicitated by Dr Gupt for designing the cover page of the novel with his colour on canvas painting of dancing Shiva in anger.
Speaking on the book a well known critic and free lancer, Ravinder Kaul said Dr Kaual’s Novel is an exhaustive record of the 61 days agitation over Amarnath land row in which the people of Jammu for the first time in the history rose in revolt against the separatist and communal mindset of Kashmiri politicians.
Noted poet and critic, Dr Aruna Sharma while appreciating the author of for inventing an innovative craft, style of free expression besides satire as a potent of protest in the Novel, said the writer has ruthlessly exposed the politicians who tired to hide the real intent of the separatist behind this row.
Kshama Koul whose Novel Dardpur was published by Gyan Peet and which has won many prestigious awards, on the occasion read out some excerpts from her novel  Nikki Tawi Par Rehearsal which were liked by audience.
