JAMMU, Apr 19: The Kashmiri Pandits today resolved to oppose, resist and fight peacefully all the forces inimical to honourbale and secured resettlement and rehabilitation of the displaced Pandits in Kashmir Valley on the terms and conditions of the community.
A resolution to this effect was passed here at a conference of All Displaced Kashmiri United Forum (ADKUF) led by D N Kissu its president. BJP general secretary (Org) Ashok Kaul was the chief guest on the occasion while Surinder Ambardar MLC and Swami Kumar Ji were the guests of honour.
The resolution said that all the displaced Pandits are one and united in this resolve. The community further resolved to keep pressing State and Central Governments those responsible for genocide and massacre of the KPs are be punished and brought to full justice through a solid mechanism of Commission of Inquiry by three Supreme Court judges.
Through an amendment made by Dr Ramesh Bhat well known social activist it also demanded probe into the reasons for decimating Pandits from 15 percent in 1947 to miniscule minority of three percent in 1990, conspiracy angle from administrative and political elements of those times, failure of State machinery to safeguard KPs, its failure to bring to justice the perpetrators of  crimes against the humanity, bring to justice all culprits both separatists and mainstream, constitution of SIT under SC to look into criminal angle of terrorist killings.
The speakers said that the well established principle of co-existence, tolerance,  live and let live underwent a gradual depreciation since 1931 but in particular since 1947-48. The so called  Kashmiriyat, composite culture, unity in diversity proved all hollow truisms and phrases only for soothing ears to meet political ends rather than a way of accommodating, tolerating and respecting the rights of Kashmiri Pandits  to live peacefully, freely and without let or hindrance in their birth land.
They said the socio-political space in Kashmir has been gradually occupied by perverted thinking of narrow mindedness, hardcore fundamentalism which has chocked all the ways for normal living of Kamhiri Pandits in their native land. This community has not forgotten July 13, 1931 when a concerted and well planned attack and selective killings on innocent KPs was orchestrated nor has it forgotten the agitation of 1967 and 1990 when the anti KP tirade reached the climax and entire community was hounded out of Kashmir Valley.
Others who addressed the gathering included Makhan Lal Bhat of ADKPUP, B L Saraf retired Session Judge and T N Bhat , president BJP displaced Unit.
