New Delhi, Aug 20: Roots in Kashmir ( RIK) supported by All Parties Migrants Coordination Committee (APMCC), Kashmir Samiti Delhi and other KP organizations today staged a protest at Jantar Mantar here, to show solidarity with the striking Kashmiri Hindu employees who have abandoned Kashmir valley in the wake of recent violence after Burhan Wani’s killings. The agitating employees are on strike for the last 34 days in Jammu.
The protest was led by Ravinder Pandita, head of APMCC Delhi – NCR. While addressing the gathering he demanded that State and Central Governments should talk to these employees and redress their grievances. Roots in Kashmir, a youth wing of Kashmiri Pandits demanded an immediate stop to fodder policy of Union government
Expressing concern over the plight of the KP employees Pandita said State Additional DGP while admitting that certain camps in South Kashmir were attacked by the separatists, DIG South Kashmir has said that no such incident has ever occurred. The recent violence in Kashmir that has begun on July 8 after Burhan Wani’s killing has evoked a total protest across the Valley with separatists calling the shots. There is a complete social boycott with Kashmiri Hindus in the Valley who have been forced thus to leave their hearth and homes and save their lives. Kashmiri Pandits have time and again shown that they are true nationalists and joined employment in the valley under PMs package that was started by UPA government. But Separatists and anti national forces have always prevailed and created a civil war like situation in the Valley, he added.
Speaking on the occasion Amit Raina of RIK said that “the problem is grave in Kashmir right now and Government should not remain a silent spectator”. Activists of RIK and APMCC said ” we are Kashmiris, not tourists out here today. We cannot be forced to go back’. The protest was addressed by prominent leaders of the community.
