JAMMU, Jan 16: The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha (KPS) Jammu held a meeting today to express it’s deep concern over the shoddy manner in which the matter regarding the PM package employees has been dealt with by the UT Government in spite of the clear directions of the Home Minister, Amit Shah made public through media reports that the issues of PM package employees should be resolved amicably within a time bound period.
In a statement issued here, today, the Sabha said most insensitive attitude of the UT Government towards this humanitarian issue is most unwarranted and ethically unfair for the entire community of Kashmiri Pandits in general and for the PM package and other minority community employees in particular agitating for more than eight months in the aftermath of the spate of targeted killings including the dastardly killing of late Rahul Bhat after which they moved out of the valley. The Sabha members noted with concern that some forces within the administration wanted to dubiously scuttle the peaceful agitation by resorting to unethical tactics.
The Kashmiri Pandit Sabha appealed the Union Home Minister, Amit Shah and Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha to adopt a more realistic and humanitarian approach towards the agitating employees. The Government should release their withheld salaries and engage with them to resolve their issues. They must treat them as their own children without having any harsh feelings about them, Sabha added.
Meanwhile, leaders of Democratic Azad Party (DAP) Sanjay Dhar, P L Pandita and Rajinder Kilm have appealed the Lt Government to settle the issue of PM package employees protesting for last eight months now after the spate of targeted killings in Kashmir.
They demanded that the authorities should hold talks with the agitating employees and find an amicable solution to their problem. They said by taking harsh steps against the hapless employees who faced pangs of exile for over 30 years need to be given a sympathetic treatment and should not be dealt in a harsh way.
