JAMMU, Apr 10: Continuing their protest on third consecutive day Kashmiri Pandits against the separatists and some main stream political parties Kashmiri Pandits today reiterated the separate homeland demand within Valley.
The KP bodies who held protest demonstrations at Jammu and Union Capital warned the separatists and Hurriyat that they will not return on the terms and conditions of those whose hands are soaked in the blood of community.
Main protest demonstration was held at Jagti township, today in which hundreds of the displaced Pandits participated. The protestors torched effigy of separatists and also made a dig at Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for taking U turn on the issue.
The KP activists owing allegiance to Jagti Migrants Welfare Committee (JMWC), All Migrant Camp Coordination Committee (AMCC), Voice of KPs, Mata Kheer Bhawani Welfare Committee other organizations held a demonstration and took out a protest rally from Kher Bhawani temple to Jagti bridge. However they were not allowed by police to proceed further.
The protestors passed a unanimous resolution on separate homeland for seven lakh KPs within Valley saying that nothing was acceptable to the community except it.
They said whenever return issue was raised by Government the massacres like Sangrampura, Wandhhama, Chittisingpora and Nadimarg took place in Kashmir.
Addressing the protestors the camp leaders including Pinto Ji, Desh Rattan and Roshan Lal Raina said that Hurriyat are killers of Pandits and were responsible for mass exodus of the community.
They said separatists can’t dictate terms to community as Pandits are the aborigines of the Valley. They appreciated the Modi Government stand on return of the displaced Pandits saying that no power on earth can deny them the right to return to their homeland.
Another protest was held at New Delhi by All Parties Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) led by Ravinder Pandita. The protestors took a dig at Hurriyat and Chief Minister Mufti Mohammad Sayeed for his U Turn on return formula. They took serious exception to the statement of Chief Minister saying that Government will not allow Gaza like situation in Kashmir and said that Pandits are most peace loving people and they have never encouraged any one to take to arms.
The protestors said by their outbursts the separatists have been exposed all over the world and people across the globe have come to know of their game plan.
All Displaced Kashmiri Employees Forum (ADKEF) also protested against the outburst of separatist Hurriyat and some main stream political parties and accused them of dividing the people on communal lines. The Forum president M K Tickoo and general secretary R K Razdhan in a joint statement issued here today said that these organizations were hand in glove with Pakistan in hatching a conspiracy for mass exodus of Pandits from Valley in 1989-90. These organizations now stand exposed before the international community, they added.
Jammu Province People’s Forum has urged and advised Chief Minister Mufti Mohd Sayeed to stick to commitment made by him with Central Govt in his recent tour to Union Capital on the issue of allotment of land to build composite townships in the Valley for settlement of Kashmiri Pandits who are living an exiled life in Jammu and other parts of the country since their mass exodus during 1989. A similar affirmation was made by him during a reference on the issue during the recent Governor address in the Assembly, it added.
Condemning the U-turn statement made by the Chief Minister in the Assembly that there were no plans for separate clusters for Kashmiri Pandits President Pavittar Singh Bhardwaj blamed Mufti for the back out perhaps under pressure from separatists and other militant outfits who have called for a protest and shut down in the Valley against the move of the Central Govt on the plans for separate settlement of displaced community in the Valley.
Ex president Kashmir Samiti Delhi and Chairman S K Foundation Sunil Shakhdar while commenting on the past few days events focused on rehabilitation of displaced Pandits in Valley said it has left community shocked and embarrassed.
In a statement issued here today he said the community is shocked as it is being treated like a commodity and an instrument of politics in the hands of the BJP-PDP coalition and embarrassed that nearly after three decades of exile from their own homeland they have been subjected to ridicule and look like beggars.
Shakhdar said it is irreprehensible that the two parties ruling at the Centre and J&K have arbitrarily decided about the fate of the community and the manner in which they would like to go back to claim their homes and hearths in Kashmir Valley.
He said it is shameful that on the one hand the Government is claiming return of Pandits to Valley and on the other hand those putting up in quarters are forced to leave by the authorities. He said family of one Nana Ji putting up at Sheikhpora is being harassed by the authorities.
However Communist Party of India in its meeting held under the leadership of former MLC Abdul Rehman Tukroo said that KPs are part and parcel of Kashmiri society and they are always welcome to return to Valley. It expressed anguish over the controversy created by certain elements on the issue. It said Party always favours their return to their native places.
Employees Joint Action Committee (EJAC) while welcoming the return of KPs to their homes and hearths however opposed the separate township for them. EJAC which held meeting under the leadership of Abdul Qayoom Wani opposed separate township.
