KPs condemn attack on migrant camps

JAMMU, July 9: Various Kashmiri Pandit organizations have strongly condemned the attack on migrant colonies at Haal, Mattan and Vessu as well as a Pandit family putting up at Mattan in their own residence and demanded fool proof security for them.
The KP Sabha condemned the highly abominable attack on the hapless inmates of the Haal camp in the aftermath of the killing of the modern face of terrorism in South Kashmir Burhan Wani. “The camp was brought under siege with the evil design of elimination of our brethren, which is clear from the fact that the vehicles parked in the compound were extensively damaged due to heavy stone pelting resorted-to by the mob.”
In a statement issued here today, it said the skeletal presence of armed guards who kept firing in the air managed to keep the attackers at bay. “The attack completely demoralised the residents and created a sense of fear and helplessness amongst them. The reinforcements took a long time in reaching the place and during that period the residents and their well-wishers and relatives throughout the country remained on tenterhooks”, it added. The Sabha expressed grave concern over the naivety of the local authorities who could not anticipate this kind of a reaction in the wake of the killing of the dreaded terrorist who was carrying a prize of Rs 10 lakh on his head. “But for the timely intervention of the higher authorities especially the Director General of Police K Rajendra for which we are thankful the situation would have been different.”, Sabha added.
It said in view of the previous experience that soft targets are attacked to disrupt the Holy Amarnath Yatra, the security establishment should have beefed up security at all such vulnerable places beforehand. The Sabha demanded that at least a two tier security cordon should be provided at all places where Kashmiri Pandits especially the PM Package employees are living and also pickets be established at each and every place of worship in order to create a sense of security within the community.
The Sabha appealed the State Govt. headed by CM Mehbooba Mufti to take personal interest in the safety and security of the KP community which has high expectations from this Govt.
Meanwhile, migrant employees at Sheikhpora in an emergency meeting today urged the Government to ensure fool proof security to migrant camps while strongly condemning the attack by some anti social elements at Haal, Vessu and Mattan migrant camps.
They said that the migrant employees and their relatives have become panicky due to the attack on camps and are perturbed for the security of their wards.
KPC chief Kundan Kashmiri, KHC president Advocate M L Thusu and convener P L Koul Budgami, Magam Bangil Sabha chief, R N Raina, All Displaced Employees Forum chief, M K Tickoo and its general secretary, R K Razdhan, AMCCC chief Desh Rattan Pandita, JTC president Shadi Lal Pandita and Jagti Welfare Committee leader Pintoo Ji have strongly condemned the attack on migrant camps by the anti national elements and demanded security be beefed up around migrant camps and Pandits putting up in Valley. They also expressed concern over ransacking of the property of a Pandit family at Mattan who was later rescued by CRPF personnel.
