KPs’ concern over Govt’s silence on return

JAMMU, Feb 14: Kashmiri Pandits have expressed serious concern over the stoic silence maintained by Prime Minister, Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister, Amit Shah on the return and rehabilitation of Kashmiri Pandits in Valley leading an exiled life for over last 31 years.
Kashmiri Pandit Conference (KPC) chairman, Kundan Kashmiri in a statement today said that the PM and Home Minister of India dashed the hopes of Kashmiri Pandits by staying mum on the core issue of their permanent resettlement and rehabilitation as per their aspirations in the Valley.
He said it indicates the Government has no concrete policy in this regard and return of 6000 employee as stated by Home Minister can’t be a rehabilitation of the community which stands for one place settlement in the Valley.
“All political parties and politicians at helm of affairs for the last 31 years promised us to hold constructive dialogue with the community and its leadership and then take them back to the Valley as per their wishes and aspirations, to retrieve their properties, restore their rights and give them justice, for which we are waiting’’, Kashmiri said.
The Home Minister in his recent speech in Parliament only talked about  six thousand jobs to displace Kashmiri youths along with the Governemnt accommodation for them in the Valley which were already announced by the previous Government in 2008 and almost 2700  jobs were already given to them under the package for their survival and sustenance by 2014.These jobs which are being provided to some displaced youths has nothing to do with one place settlement  of  all displaced KPs in the Valley, he added and demanded that the Government should announce the rehabilitation policy for the displaced Pandits immediately.
He said even no decision has been taken on the long pending issue of Shrines and Temples Bill by the Government which is unfortunate as the condition of religious places in Valley is very bad.
Meanwhile, relief holders led by Ravinder Kaul and social activist, Ramesh Bhat while putting records straight said that only 22000 migrants are taking relief and not 44,000 as stated by Home Minister. They alleged that BJP Government has failed to settle the problems of the displaced Pandits leading an exiled life for over last 31 years and its treatment towards the exiled people has been even worst than previous Governments.
